Week 29 Roundup

A quiet week for buying has allowing me to take a full inventory of my Pyrates collection which I will share in a separate post. What triggered this was finally getting my hands on a sealed Crew Collection set! :)

What have I been buying this week?

  • Mega Bloks - Pyrates - Crew Collection
    • 2007, #3653, 18 pieces, 9 figures
    • Bought sealed set from German eBay seller for €250 plus shipping (£244.25 including shipping)
    • However, I also got hit with a £85.99 custom charge on this item! :(
    • This is a very rare set that I didn't win on a previous auction even though I had a maximum bid of $500!
    • I have been a fanatical Mega Bloks Pyrates and POTC collector for a long time, and I'm not the only one out there since I'm seen several other sets in this theme (that I have) sell for over £300 each
    • This completes my Pyrates collection except for several combination sets containing multiple existing sets, and several Pyrates 2.0 sets that I still need
    • I'm not a fan of the combination sets generally unless something unique is included, e.g. the #3695 Skull Cave Collection includes 2 previously released skulls and an additional unique skull making this collection set a required item in any collection
    • The Pyrates 2.0 sets are poorer quantity reissues in most cases so they are less frequently collected and sold, and even when sold don't fetch high values

  • Mega Bloks - Blok Squad - Military Brigade
    • 2011, #2465, 346 pieces, 3 figures
    • Bought unsealed box with sealed contents from eBay seller for £25 including shipping
    • Seller wasn't confident that all parts were there but I'm 99% sure no bags are missing
    • This is a very difficult set to find in the UK. Military blok squad sets were either sold in small quantities here or few were kept unopened.
    • I aim to snap up any sealed military blok squad sets that I see in the UK

  • Mega Bloks - Need For Speed - Custom Rig (Lamborghini)
    • 2012, #95760, 562 pieces, no figures
    • Bought an incomplete set of sealed bags (plus unused stickers) from eBay seller for £4.36 including shipping!
    • Only the wheels and printed custom car pieces appear to be missing so this was a steal at the price :)
    • I already have a sealed copy of this set so I will part out these bags into my parts collection

What am I building at the moment?

Nothing this week.

Final Comments

Going thru all my Pyrates sets reminded me why I became a dedicated Mega Bloks/Construx collector after being a LEGO collector for many years! And perhaps by sharing more of my collection, I can encourage other collectors away from LEGO bricks! :D
